Lukas Thorne, a wildlife and landscape painter from New Harbour, Newfoundland, has always loved creating art. In recent years, he’s focused on honing his skills through various painting lessons and workshops, as well as plein air painting in nearby communities.
Capturing emotion through colour
Lukas's goal is to capture fine detail in his paintings while expressing emotion through serene, fantasy-inspired colours. Inspiration often strikes him during walks outdoors, where he finds inspiration in clouds, bugs, plants, and animals. Lukas believes every creature is a reflection of nature, and each one offers a new lesson about ourselves.
The freedom of imagination
During a period of high stress, Lukas discovered peace and beauty in the solitude of nature. This led to a strong drive to create art to express this serenity and share it with others. He particularly watches birds, as they represent the freedom he feels when creating art. He states, "If you can imagine something and express it, you are an artist."
